Im a new nail tech, and it seems like my nails always lift...?

i dont understand why my clients nails always lift?

my preperation on the nail is this:

remove polish

use scrub fresh

use file to remove any oils, dirt, ect...

use scrub fresh

put the tip on

blend if needed

apply more scrub fresh

apply primer

and then apply acrylic

is there something im doing wrong, because when they come in for fills, there will be lots of lifting, so i clip off the parts that are lifting, then it seems like they are impossible to blend...they always end up with a big nasty fill line and i feel so bad cuz i know sometimes they arent very happy. i have only been out of beauty school since june and i know i need alot of work...but what else can i do?

o and i dont use a drill, hand filing only...anyone w/advise? it would be greatly appreciated...thank you for ur timeIm a new nail tech, and it seems like my nails always lift...?
Just a little bit of trivia first...Did you know that ScrubFresh will remove nail polish? Try it sometime!

OK, since improper prep is the #1 cause of lifting, I would look there first. Are you absolutely certain that you are using the file to get into the sidewalls of the nail and also well into the cuticle area - without going too far and causing discomfort or injury, of course? It sounds to me like you were trained the 'CND' way of doing nails. That's not a bad thing. It's a very good company. Actually, I have the coveted CND Grand Master certification so yeah, I do think they are good in most ways. But, I too have had difficulty with their products, especially in the area of pocket lifting. I don't know what it is with their Retention+ monomer, but I get wicked pocket lifting no matter how hard I try not to. Now, Moxie, on the other hand, seems to work much better than Retention+ does. What do you use? OK back to what I was saying.

The steps you are using sound about right. Are you using cuticle remover, then pushing the cuticles back prior to removing the natural shine with your file? This is an area which MUST be totally clean of all any and all dead tissue or lifting will likely result around the cuticle area. This doesn;t have anything to do with lifting, but be sure to avoid getting the Scrubfresh on the nail tips. It may crack them if you wipe over them with Scrubfresh. Anyway, also be absolutely certain that once the nails have been properly, and completely prepped, apply scrubfresh, and be sure to get every little bit of oil, or any other contaminents such as debris from filing off of the nail plate. Your goal is to make the nail plate 100% squeaky clean - quite literally. It only takes a very little bit of leftover debris or natural oil on the nail for it to lift. Of course, onve this is done, do not touch the nails with your own fingers or you risk contaminating them with the oil from your own fingers. Also, don't let your client touch their nails either. This will put oil back onto the surface of the nail. That is a no no! One other thing is to be sure that the acrylic does not come in contact with any of the skin surroundin the nail plate. This includes around the cuticle area, and into the sidewalls. Always maintain about a 1/16'; or so margin of product free nail surface. Keep the acrylic away from the skin - always. Product that cures while in contact with skin is bound to lift sooner or later - usually sooner than later! Sorry I have been jumping around here. I'm trying to do a million things at one - typing included and I'm losing track of where I am, LOL! Well, good luck. If all else fails, and you are using CND products - then you can always call their hotline for technical assistance. Were you aware of that? I don't have the number handy, but you can get it off their website, http://www.cnd.com Of course you must be registered as a professional to get into that portion of the site. If you don't log on, you won't get past the consumer area of it, and that will nto be of any help to you.

Best wishes!

PS: No matter how hard you try, you will NEVER be able to please every single client. I don't care how good a tech is. There are simply some people in the world who are never satisfied with anything and they will always find something wrong. Thankfully, not all clients are that way. Only a few, but they are enough to make life for us miserable at times. Try to not let them get the best of you. Try to keep your chin up at all times!
