Nail Techs!!! I too am a nail tech and I have two questions for you:?

First question is, what can I use to protect my own acrylic nails while using acetone to remove my clients polish? I am finding that each day I am melting my own nails away and I have to constantly fix them. Also, what can I use to protect my skin on my thumb and forefinger (the two parts that we tend to file our own skin). I bought that little black wrap stuff but it tends to fall off during a fill. Thanks for all your help! Happy Thanksgiving!Nail Techs!!! I too am a nail tech and I have two questions for you:?
Yup, using a UV gel topcoat or finishing gloss can help with this problem. But, apply to both top and undersides of your nails. Once cured, this will protect them from acetone and other chemicals. Of course, you could always switch to gel nails. That would also solve the problem.

Also, I use HandsDown Ultra nail %26amp; cosmetic pads for polish removal. They have a plastic barrier which protects your nails from exposure to acetone. They work really well, and aren't all that expensive (about $4 for 60 pads).

As for protecting your skin while filing, try getting some Coban by 3M. Its a hospital grade stretch bandage which sticks to itself and works great to protect your skin. This product will not fall off easily. Here is a link for a product description. Its available in a latex, and a latex-free version in case you have any allergies to latex.

If interested, just do an online search for 'coban,' and you'll find plenty of places to buy it from.

I hope this helps!Nail Techs!!! I too am a nail tech and I have two questions for you:?
You can use tech tape to protect your fingers, your supplier should sell this.

I put a clear gel top coat (perma-gloss by NSI) over my nails which protects them from melting although I always end up filing the corner off my thumb nail!!
